Leaking shower repair Northern Beaches.
This leaking shower repair, in the main bathroom of a house at Frenchs Forest on the Northern Beaches Sydney, was completed in March 2020.
The customer noticed the problem when scrubbing the shower one day and saw that the grout between the floor tiles was breaking down and there were large segments of grout missing. Upon further inspection under the house, the customer saw that there was slight water damage to the timber floor joists below the shower – evidence that the shower had been leaking. Additionally, the silicone around the tiles was mouldy, had gone an awful yellow colour and was breaking down leading to water escaping under the shower screen onto the bathroom floor.
The customer contacted us on Wednesday and we arrived on site the next morning to inspect the shower and provide a quote. Our tiler was then on site the next day ready to undertake the work and ensure this old shower was once again watertight.
First, our tiler removed all the existing grout from the shower floor and walls. He then removed all the silicone from around the base of the shower screen and the corners of the walls. Interestingly, the original tiler of this bathroom had done an unsatisfactory job and the gap between tiles was uneven. Our tiler took extra time to use his expertise to even up the tile grout lines and remedy the poor quality original tiling job.
And finally, the tiler cleaned up. The bathroom walls, floors, cabinetry and accessories all had to be washed down – any tile regrouting project leads to a lot of very fine dust that covers everything.
The finished result was excellent and the customer will now enjoy many, many years of a watertight shower with no leaks.
